About Whittierpedia

The Whittierpedia is a collaborative, crowdsourced project of Whittier College's Digital Liberal Arts program. Built on the open source MediaWiki platform, and hosted on Reclaim Hosting, Whittierpedia is designed to facilitate in-class and out-of-class learning, as well as a site to build institutional memory. Although more academically and locally focused than the more familiar Wikipedia, editors are encouraged to maintain a neutral tone, and to cite relevant sources through the use of academic resources such as books, lecture, and articles available on campus through the library and from your professors.

About Whittier College

Whittier College is a four-year residential liberal arts college that pushes students to question the world around them and figure out their place in it. Located in the heart of Southern California between bustling Los Angeles and beautiful Orange County, Whittier is distinguished by its small size, pioneering faculty, and nationally recognized curriculum. Facilities rival those at large public institutions, but ours is an intimate setting where students and professors unite in an ongoing pursuit of knowledge.

Since its founding in 1887, Whittier College has been a place of academic innovation, where a community of learners pushes past constraints and "measured" ways of doing things, embracing the bold and the cutting edge.

Here, students and professors alike reach across academic dividing lines to discover the interconnectedness of ideas.

As a result, students gain an intellectual grounding that will serve them throughout their lives—as scholars, professionals, and responsible world citizens.

About Digital Liberal Arts

Whittier’s Digital Liberal Arts Center (DigLibArts) is a collaborative initiative to enhance the liberal arts at Whittier College by empowering faculty, staff, librarians, and students to make full and better use of the digital technologies that are reshaping pedagogical approaches and transforming research throughout the liberal arts. The emerging center is designed to support and inspire faculty (by providing personal assistance, workshop training and stipends, and tools) to integrate digital technologies into their pedagogy and to foster the building of relationships with other liberal arts colleges developing similar initiatives.
