Ideology is a prison for the mind. It is a wide-scale system of ideas that unconsciously shapes and constrains our beliefs and behaviors. It is the ruling ideas of society.

Background

Ideology is a collection of beliefs held by a person, group, or society. It can be said to be a set of conscious and unconscious ideas which make up someone's beliefs. The concept of ideology is central to politics. Ideology was coined by Antoine Destutt de Tracy in 1796 Disciplinary history? Significant figures, theorists, etc.?
