About

Digital Rights Management controls what users can and cannot do with their media for example, their hardware. [1]

Background

Digit Rights Management was created to prevent the redistribution of digital media since some users came up with ways in order to copy what they originally purchased. The major point of Digital Rights Management is to ensure the copyright of the product people have. [2] This topic is controversial since many people are against the use of DCR and many people like the safety of intellectual safety.

Uses in other disciplines

Many terms are used beyond Media Studies or come from other fields, mention those here.
